Being awarded SCITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training) status means we can recruit and train our own fully qualified teachers.
We are actively recruiting the teachers of tomorrow right now so we can start training them from September 2016. We want the best graduates who want to make a difference to children’s life chances. We always say we like to grow our own and we really mean it.
For the last five years we have very successfully operated the School Direct programme with the University of Worcester and the vast majority of people who train with us stay with us, joining the main body of our staff. Now we can awards QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) ourselves we will be able to do this even more, whilst continuing to offer postgraduate programmes through the University of Worcester.
Charlie Taylor, the Chief Executive of the National College for Teaching and Learning, who are responsible for determining who has SCITT status, said: “May I offer my personal congratulations on this achievement, and I look forward to working with you at a time of great interest and development in initial teacher training.”
